Prudential Real Estate Affiliates - A Financial Base and a Market Influence

By , About.com Guide

A Foundation in the Financial Arena:

As Prudential Real Estate® is wholly owned by the Prudential Insurance Company of America, it's foundation is correlated with the financial and insurance services of its parent company. This is considered by franchisees to be a valuable resource for clients who work with the other financial and insurance areas of the company.

Jumped Into the Internet Fray in a Big Way with Yahoo®:

The announcement in 2004 that Prudential Real Estate would work with Yahoo to feature local listings via links to the franchisees in each locale was a big one. Yahoo's real estate search site is quite busy, and the Prudential offices are reaping the rewards of the referrals.

What are the Splits and Costs?:

The traditional split arrangements seem to predominate, but vary by office and agent based on many factors including agent sales volume and services provided.

Though there may be no other significant charges passed on to the agent, some offices do pass along operational charges such as copy costs, long distance phone usage, etc.

Fewer Offices Than Some but Larger in Some Cases:

Though Prudential has fewer offices than some of the other big real estate franchises, many of their offices support large numbers of agents. This franchise is definitely an influential player in the real estate marketplace.

Luxury Homes Focus and the Fine Homes Specialist:

The "Fine Homes Specialist" designation is awarded to a top tier of Prudential agents that specialize in the marketing of luxury homes. There is some benefit derived from the relationship to the financial and insurance areas of the business in generating luxury home clients.
