Real Estate Policy Manual - Safety Practices & Vacation Time

By , About.com Guide

Safety in most workplaces is about machinery, assembly practices, vehicle operations, etc. For the real estate professional, the concerns are more about personal safety in other people's homes. It is about practices that keep us out of harm's way.

Carefully cover all aspects of showings, open houses, information sharing with prospects or other things we do that could put an agent in danger. Much of this will seem like common sense, but nothing should be left to conjecture or chance.

As Independent Contractors, agents can take vacations or leave time whenever they want. Our section states this fact, but makes it clear that the associate is responsible for making sure that their office duty or other obligations are covered. Client satisfaction reflects on the brokerage. This section should stress the commitment of the brokerage to excellent service, and the obligation of associates to deliver excellence even in their absence.
