Real Estate Policy Manual - Office Duty and Sales Meetings
Don't Leave a Busy Office Without a Licensed Associate on Duty

By James Kimmons, About.com

Not all, but most real estate offices are somewhat dependent on walk-in prospects. And all offices are highly motivated to take prospect phone calls, and have someone present to legally answer questions. This means a licensed associate on office floor duty. Our real estate policy manual should lay out the system that will make this happen.

This portion of our office policy manual will clearly explain that, though a voluntary function, real estate office floor duty is important and associates are required to adhere to the schedule if they volunteer. Set out the method of rotation and scheduling, as well as the procedures when a conflict in scheduling arises.

Also in this section, we'll discuss sales meetings. Whatever your policy on attendance and responsibility for the information discussed in meetings, make sure that it is clearly spelled out here. Make sure that your associates understand that the discussions and training in your meetings is important to them, as well as the brokerage.
