iGoogle for a Real Estate Business Management Home Page

Your Entire Day, Week and All Important Information in One Screen

By , About.com Guide

This isn't a long article, as setting up igoogle is relatively easy. Use our About.com Google Guide's link here to get started. Use your Gmail login to get it set up. Now all of your features are tied to your Gmail address. What we want to accomplish here is to get you a view that comes up when you start your browser and has the most important items of information you need for your business right in front of you for fast access.

Once you've got your igoogle home page identified to your Gmail login, it is your personal page, and can be designed any way you want. There is a link at the right to "Add Stuff>>", but you can have fun looking for new things later. To get the boxes for your Google Calendar, Remember the Milk, and Gmail, use these links:

  • Google Calendar Box Add
  • Remember the Milk Box Add
  • Gmail Box Add
  • If you want a "favorites" link box, use this link.
  • If you use the link from Remember the Milk above, it should already know your account information. If not, you may have to enter your Remember the Milk login info for that box to function, but if you're logged in to Gmail, the others should pick right up. Move them to where you like, and then do this to make this your start-up page in the browser:

For Firefox: Go to Tools > Options. You'll get a window with the Home Page shown. With igoogle on the screen, click the Use Current Page button, and you're done.

For IE7: Go to Tools > Internet Options. You'll get a window and an option to use the Current Page.

That's all there is to it! You're now set up to be better organized and informed than most real estate agents. Keep this page as your default and in front of you most of the day. You'll always be able to see your schedule, tasks and emails all in one place. Now, if you want to get into RSS and Newsfeeds (highly recommended), go to the next step to set up a feed reader box on your igoogle page.
