Top 3 Ways to Get Current Real Estate News to Your Computer

By James Kimmons, About.com

It's easy in today's business world to get "information overload", especially if you're trying to start your new business as a real estate agent or brokerage.

Here's some free or low cost solutions that use technology to custom tailor and deliver real estate business and market news to you "as it happens". Don't let your business suffer because you aren't keeping up with news and trends that impact the real estate industry.

1. Google Alerts

Free. We all know the stature of Google as a search engine and information resource. One of their little-known and very valuable services is their Alerts.

Enter a search phrase such as "real estate business (or news)", "your city real estate", etc. and Google will deliver items it finds on the web to your email. Whether a new press release, blog post or online article, you'll get it right away.

2. Attensa for Outlook

One-time $30 cost. Attensa for Outlook is a great tool for subscribing to news feeds, blogs and web site news. It sets up a folder in your Outlook with your news sources and brings your custom news in to read when you have the time.

I like it because I can then use Outlook's filtering features to further file the news items that I might want to look at later, write about or take action on.
