Where to Spend Our Social Networking Time

After you read the hype, and after you decide that you really do need to make social and business online networks part of your future marketing, you come face-to-face with the time problem. Gurus abound telling us to get personal on Facebook, do business on LinkedIn, and do just about everything on Twitter. But, fitting in the time to follow hundreds of people's random thoughts on all of these sites while placing relevant and interesting content of your own on them, becomes the main limitation to realizing their full value to our real estate business.

Along comes a free (as this is written anyway) service called Hootsuite. When Hootsuite recently added Facebook and LinkedIn integration to the dashboard, the ability to effectively manage just about all of your online networking was in place.

  • Follow multiple Twitter accounts, groups or lists with tabbed access all on one screen.
  • Set up custom key phrase searches in tabbed columns for Twitter searching.
  • Post one tweet to multiple accounts at the same time.
  • Add a document or an image to multiple Twitter accounts.
  • Display your Facebook activity, as well as post to Facebook.
  • Display LinkedIn activity and post.

Let's say that you have a great tip or announcement to make about your local real estate market. You can tweet it to multiple Twitter accounts, as well as Facebook and LinkedIn all with one entry if you like. But, there's more functionality as well. You can set up a feed from your blog to post automatically to multiple accounts at once. There are also statistical reports for clicks on your tweets, as well as reports of your most popular tweets.
