Well, YouTube (owned by Google) has a new analytical service called "Insight." It gives you traffic statistics for your video views that are similar to your Analytics statistics. The map, which color codes traffic by country and state in the U.S., is helpful in determining where the most interest for your area is being generated. I didn't find much difference in that map and the general site traffic map in Analytics, with the same states at the top of the list. This did help to verify the other data though.
What was interesting, and it may be in Analytics but I haven't seen it, is the pie chart for male or female video viewership. Mine at the time of this article was 72% male and 28% female. It could be a temporary statistic, as my most viewed video is hugely the Red River, NM bike rally Memorial Day weekend. It's probably of more interest to men, and that video's viewings has eclipsed by 3 to 1 the previous top viewed video.
You also get an age breakdown. I wasn't too surprised that the greatest percentage of my video viewers were in the 35 to 44 age group. That even fits with the bike rally theory. The image shows the two items depicted graphically. I will be checking this more frequently in the future to keep tabs on who's watching my videos. I have almost 100 videos on the site now.
