What is a podcast? This word came about from the advent of the iPod. Once music was downloadable to this small device for playing anywhere, it's only logical that voice recordings, radio style shows and commercial content would follow. They're ususally MP3 audio files, though other formats, such as QuickTime are also used. The "episodes" that make up a podcast series can be subscribed to and downloaded as they are broadcast to the web.
If you're comfortable with your recorded voice, it makes podcasting easier and less expensive, as no talent needs to be hired. What you should try to accomplish with your podcast is a radio style, newsy and informational source of area and real estate information. Just like a blog, it's not the place to advertise your listings. You can have a separate podcast dedicated to that purpose, but your basic show should consist of more generic content about the area, real estate and put your personality out there. By doing this, you can build up a loyal audience of listeners who want information but not a sales pitch.
