- How many
- Male and female percentages
- Children in household, with ages
- Age
- Education level
- Income
- Other sites my visitors also visit
- All of the above in relation to the Internet site average
These are very interesting and valuable bits of information. Since I already know the type and age group of people who buy vacation and resort homes in my area, plus the level of income they need to be able to afford them, it's important to know if those are the people visiting my site. The chart in the image tells me that, on my site:
- Visitors are split 50/50 male and female
- 27% more visitors than Internet average for people with children ages 0 - 17
- 39% more visitors than Internet average in age group 35-49
- 84% more than the Internet average in age group over 50
- 5% more than the Internet average in the $100k+ income range
- 14% more college graduates
- 41% more visitors than Internet average with post-graduate degrees
Though I'm always working to improve my site, I think I'm putting the right type of content up for the people who can afford to buy $300k+ vacation homes in a ski area. I can also see that my visitors also tend to visit a lot of travel oriented sites. So, I think the decision to put a lot of area tourism stuff up was a good one. It's tourists who end up buyers here.
Why is Quantcast such a great resource? Simply, it wasn't designed to help you and I to see who's visiting our site. It was designed for Internet marketers to decide where their money is best spent in placing online ads and banners. If your target buyer is a "baby boomer," say for vacations or even medications, you would be able to use Quantcast to find the sites best suited for running your ad and reaching the largest audience that meets your customer profile.
So, no matter what type of people buy in your area, you can find out that information. But, are those the type of people visiting your site? Go to Quantcast.com, and sign up to get the code to put on your site to find out.
