Note that there are three numbers in bubbles in this image. They correspond to the next three steps in this instruction gallery. We want to see the big picture plan for how our visitors will find information on the site.

The order of buttons and links is arbitrary, but there is a bit of method in my madness. Some of the thoughts behind this plan include:

  • The top bar buttons have the most used to the left, as we read from left to right.
  • The page link box in the left sidebar will not have all pages, as it would be too cluttered.
  • Regarding the previous item, some pages will be accessed from buttons on their parent pages.
  • Content done right will bring most search engine visitors directly to the page with the content they wanted anyway.
