This Theme Still Isn't Showing Pages How We'd Like - Fixing It
Plugins and Widgets Solve All Kinds of Problems

Notice in this image that our new theme shows the child page under "About Me" but doesn't have a link back to the home page.

Helping your visitors to easily navigate their way through the site, both forwards and backwards, is critical If they become frustrated in trying to locate something, they'll leave and likely not return. In the image we linked to in the last step, it showed that we'd solved the child page display issue with the new theme. But, notice in that image the lack of "Home" as a page option in the box. So, when I saw that I couldn't tweak this theme to show the Home page in the box on every page, I just went to Google and searched for "sidebar page box plugins." Or at least something like that. "Widgets" is another term used to identify plugins for the sidebars.

In the next lesson, we'll work with our sidebars, plugins and widgets. One of these we'll install is called Flexi Pages. It's what I found to allow me to customize the Pages box in the left sidebar. This image shows it there, and the next lesson will show you how we did it.
