CREST, the Center for Real Estate & Social Technologies, in it's second survey of real estate bloggers, tells us that bloggers who have been at it two years or more are much more successful than the newbies. They report getting 2/3 of their leads from their blog sites. Their conclusion is that experience, learning of tricks and tips, and having more content sent to them are the reasons. I would add with great emphasis, that it's also very much about content, content, content, and the search engines.
When you continue to add regular weekly relevant content to your blog, Google and the other search engines will send their bots more often, and you'll gradually build a huge body of content valued by the search engines. They will then send you leads with long tail key phrase searches. At the time I write this, my personal real estate blog is getting new posts indexed by Google in less than an hour in most cases. I know, because I have Google Alerts to send the posts to me when Google finds them.
So, if you want to be a real estate blogger, settle in for the long haul, create new content once or more every week, and you'll see results in your bank account. That's not to say that you won't get leads the first year, but the real gold is down the road.
