Real Estate Blogging and Lead Conversion from RSS Subscribers

How Many Leads and Sales Should You Get From RSS Subscribers?

By , About.com Guide

One of the most valuable features of a blog is the ability to broadcast your latest post to the world automatically via a RSS (Really Simple Syndication) Feed. The goal of every real estate blogger is to steadily add to their RSS feed subscriber list. Another added approach is a feed-to-email newsletter conversion approach. Either or both, you wnat regular loyal readers.

How does this convert to business? CREST, the Center for Real Estate & Social Technologies, did a survey of bloggers, both successful and not so. What they found was that the bloggers with the highest number of RSS feed subscribers reaped the greatest quantity of leads from their sites. That is logical. And, their conversion rates were good. They did find that those with fewer leads had somewhat higher conversion rates, but that could just be due to their smaller pool and greater efforts expended on fewer leads.

What should we gather from this? If you're blogging, definitely you want active feeds, and you want to build an ever-growing list of RSS subscribers. After all, these are people who like your content enough to ask that they get it delivered as you write it. Interesting and relevant local area content and real estate news and information will be well-received. Over time, your list will build, and your name will be at the top of their minds when it's time for them to buy or sell real estate. That's successful real estate blogging.
