What Should I Put on My Real Estate Business Cards?

By James Kimmons, About.com

Question: What Should I Put on My Real Estate Business Cards?
Answer: Real estate business cards will never go away. They're a basic tool in our marketing plan. There are these basic tips for designing an effective business card:

  • Use a good heavy card stock
  • Don't over-crowd the information on the card
  • Color or black-white is a preference choice, neither a must
  • If you use a photo, then color is better
  • A direct number to supplement the office number is recommended
  • Many online services have excellent design tools and graphics
  • That's the good basic information to get you started. But in today's high tech world, there is something else to consider. Business card scanners that scan the information on the card and place it into a contact database are being used a lot out there. With this in mind:

  • Don't use too fancy a font that a scanner can't interpret
  • Be careful of background/text color for contrast
  • Don't crowd the information together, as the scanner gets confused
  • Use recognizable database titles, like Office, Fax, Home, etc.
  • Make your real estate business card a class act to hold on to, as well as an easy-to-scan and convert document.
