Websites SUCK for Real Estate Lead Generation!

Website thumbs down.NAR's annual Member Survey just came out for 2012 giving us lots of data about members and how they did business in 2011.  I went straight to stuff about their Web presence and the business it generates for them, and it was pretty depressing.  Thus this headline.

However, the data clearly illustrates why websites aren't generating commission dollars for the members, and I've detailed why in this article about real estate Web presence and lead generation.  Check it out, as I'm certain that some small adjustments could make the "typical" Realtor a success on the Web, instead of seeing tiny income returns.

Just having a website up isn’t enough. Like you said in your article, agents need to spend more time generating content that appeals to their audiences via blogging. Also, prospects want to KNOW the person they’re dealing with. Door-to-door marketing works great where I’m from. Let folks in your area know who you are and where they can find you. If they know who you are, chances are they’ll give you a call when the time comes.

Bad real estate websites are bad at generating leads. Good websites are good at generating leads. Trying to lump them all together is like saying “magazine ads don’t work.”

A well-executed real estate website can produce more leads than the agent can handle. The truth is that most agent websites are not designed for leads. They are nothing more than virtual business cards (and they’re even bad at that).

I’ve been helping my clients generate web-based leads for nearly a decade. When done properly, it can outperform any other marketing channel, especially with the advent of social media.

A more accurate title for this article would be “Most Real Estate Websites Suck, Period.”

Websites that work are websites that have good content. Incorporating blog content to the website is not a guarantee that it will work. There are blogs that are poorly written.

You can generate leads w/ PPC but you have to have a CUSTOM LANDING page for each phrase and you have to ignore the BIG LOOKIE LOU phrases..

Lead generation w/ websites suck if you have ‘just a site’ You have to do it right..

Integrated search.. Great tools.. Very specific traffic..

It can be done.. I do it for clients for what works out to be about $5 a lead. And they’re LEADS not Prospects..
