Interesting Lead Purchase Twitter Strategy

I've written a lot recently about Twitter, and particularly about using searches to zoom in on information that you really need. I have a search in my Hootsuite tabs that contains my town and the words "real estate." It brings me a competitor tweets and other information, but it also brought me an interesting tweet this morning from http://twitter.com/mortgagelead.

I received a tweet offering a lead for $14 from a mortgage company for a prospect applying for a $300k loan for a home. I didn't buy the lead or set up an account, but it's an interesting use of Twitter. There was enough information to make it tempting, but I just have this thing about buying leads. However, the tweet illustrates some of the things I've been writing about in the last week or so:

As for the last list item, looking at the originating Twitter account, there are probably hundreds of tweets there around this one for my area's mortgage lead. I have no use for any of those and, if I were following this account individually or on a list, I would probably have missed this tweet in all of the noise. Start noticing what information you find of real value on Twitter, and jot down search phrases that would have delivered it without the surrounding tweets you don't need.
