Taking Twitter Around the Block-Literally

Monday June 29, 2009
I've been writing a lot about Twitter and Flickr of late, as they are both online services that save me a lot of time in my blogging. But, they also help me to market myself better on my real estate blog-based website as well.

Flickr aside for the moment, Twitter is a tool I've come to love. I'm building followers at a rapid clip, and I'm hoping that the amazing growth of Twitter users, 1287% last year, continues into the future. Did you know that one survey shows that more than half of Twitter users are between 35 and 50 years of age?

Here's what I'm doing, and being lazy, I really like the simplicity. I use HootSuite to post Web pages to my real estate Twitter account, with a comment. Many times, the page I'm posting is a price change alert out of my MLS. The point is that the alert is up in realtime in just two clicks for my real estate Twitter followers to access.

But, the fun part is getting it back to my blog-based website with absolutely no action on my part.

Speaking of realtors on Twitter, you might want to check out my latest post on Adage: http://adage.com/adages/post?article_id=137605

I take a moment to explore those who are making a name for themselves on this powerful platform. Enjoy!

I searched your name and toas real estate on twitter and couldn’t find you.

Karen,

I don’t use my name in any of my posts from this blog that go to Twitter, though they are under the account “jimkimmons.” Searching without the space between first and last name will turn up that account.

As far as “toas real estate,” it is not spelled correctly, thus no results. Search “taos real estate,” and the great majority of posts there are for my account.
