More For Less - Flickr & Blogging

Thursday June 18, 2009
I've had a Flickr account for several years, and I've had images up there the whole time. However, for a large portion of that time, I really never used Flickr, except for a listing image slide show now and then. Not long ago, I took another look at Flickr, and I'm really using it a lot more now.

I have more than 800 images up on Flickr now, 600+ of them recently uploaded from my computer and an external drive. I did this when I bought my new netbook, and I started working more away from the office. I found that I was always wanting an image for blogging, but it wasn't on the netbook due to the limited storage and the slower processor. Those were limitations I accepted, but I still wanted to use an image in my blogging that wasn't available away from my main computer.

I also found that Flickr has become more useful, with added features and plugins that make my blog posting go faster, and now I'm using more images because it's easier. From image editing to view statistics, there is a lot of value in Flickr. I've done a profile of Flickr features and how I use them here. I'm kicking myself for waiting this long to take advantage of this online service.

Yes, Flickr is a great FREE tool for Realtors and their Assistants alike! I use this in conjunction with my Picnik account (where I can manipulate my photos for blogging to be more visually pleasing)or do it all in one place (with not as great effects) at Photobucket. What did we do just a few years ago without these great online tools?! Thanks for the post, James.
