We're As Useful to Buyers As The Web

Wednesday December 3, 2008
The NAR 2008 Profile of Home Buyers and Sellers is out. You need to go to the link and order it for $50, as there is a huge amount of valuable information. One tidbit is in Exhibit 3-6, Usefulness of Information Sources. Buyers were asked what information sources they found most useful in their search for a home. Here are the top two:

  • Internet - 99% found the Internet to be Very or Somewhat Useful in their home search.
  • Real estate agent - 98% said the same thing about their real estate agent.
I'll take second place by one percentage point any day. This may tell us that we should spend some time and research to see how we can better interface between our clients and the information they're locating on the Web.
