Gmail Gets Even Better - Leads From Canned Responses

Tuesday November 11, 2008
I'm very happy with my Gmail account, and it checks multiple custom email addresses for me. There are features I wish for, but they may arrive, as there is a new one out that is great for "special reports delivery" via automated responses.

I'm no longer using any kind of drip email, as I much prefer to market my prospects with Feedblitz newsletters created from my blog posts. However, I do like to capture leads with special offerings of information to my blog site visitors. Though reports have taken a bad rap lately due to overuse and poor quality, there is value in using them to get an email address. The key is to use good sales and link text to convince the visitor of the value of the report.

What the new "Canned Responses" feature in Gmail allows you to do is to create multiple template emails, which would be the reports you want to offer. By using special "+something" email addresses and filters, you can have the reports delivered automatically 24/7. You get an email address lead, and the visitor gets their information immediately whether you are checking email or not. I've written a tutorial on using canned responses for lead generation, so take a look if free leads are of interest.
