I Wonder If They'll Call Them GoogCasts?
There is breaking news all over the web about recent Google patent filings, notably one to patent the delivery of podcasts with inserted ad content. With a huge group of real estate professionals not yet blogging, and many not even thinking about it, talking about real estate podcasts is probably of no interest at all. However, they are on the rise, and I think that regular podcasting of local real estate news and other community interest pieces will fit very nicely into real estate blogging strategies. And, now we have to wonder if we'll be able to deliver them with local ad content as well.

James:
Podcasting is THE wave of the future, just take a look at some of the podcast directories out there. If you Google Podcast directory, there are several and if you see how many podcasts are listed, covering everything from A-Z, you will be amazed.
I am in the process of adding a weekly podcast to my business model and posting to my website and blogs, etc. I totally agree with you, podcasting will be a great compliment to blogging campaigns.
As for Google getting a patent on delivery of ad content for podcasts, this is not a surprise to me, just another way for Google to get paid for ad space to keep up with the changing dynamic of the internet as podcasts are where people are going for much of their information these days.
Sometimes it is hard to keep up with all the changes, but you really have to in order to survive. I liked your previous article that you referenced about podcasting in general. I agree with your sentiments that people sometimes prefer to listen to you rather than read what you have to say and they get a “feel” for your personality or persona via podcasts.
It really is a shame that many Realtors do not blog and to think about Podcasting, well that is a real step off the pier for some. It is too itimidating.
