Home Staging - An Escort for Your Potential Buyers

Friday August 29, 2008
A trend that's getting hot due to the large number of unoccupied homes involves home staging companies that do not just place furniture and decorate a home that's for sale. They also provide a live-in tenant to keep everything in tip-top shape and showing-ready at all times.

Realtor.org talks about it in Company Offers Rent-a-Residents. Property owners pay the staging company a monthly fee, and they not only make sure the home is staged properly, they locate a live-in renter to take care of it. The renter is enticed by the very low rent paid for an upscale home, and trades their care of the residence for it.

Major statement here: The company mentioned in the Realtor.org article is quite reputable as far as I know, and has nothing to do with anything after this point in this post.

If the Rent-a-Resident idea appeals to you for the marketing of your vacant home, just do thorough research on your staging company of choice. Don't get into the situation outlined in this news video. You don't want the buyer's escort to be ... well, an escort service.
