If You Don't Like Rants - Stop Reading Now

Thursday May 1, 2008
When a local real estate agent, out of the blue, starts sending me huge emails with multiple images of their latest new listing, I'm annoyed. But, I politely, at least the first time, tell them to take me off promotional lists of that type. I have an MLS to keep me informed.

I'm licensed in Taos, NM. When I get these type of emails from an agent in Charlotte, NC, I'm not annoyed, I'm mad. I get hundreds of RSS feeds and emails every day. What makes you think that I care one whit about your new listing several thousand miles away?

What could possibly be running around in their minds?:

  • I have an interest in their listing...WRONG
  • I just this morning had a seller tell me they were moving to NC...WRONG
  • I have the time to peruse photos of a home on the other side of the country...WRONG
  • I shouldn't be upset, 'cause I have a Delete Key...WRONG

Here's what's running around in my mind:

  • They are lazy marketers.
  • They are wasting their money paying the service that is sending these out.
  • They are lying to their sellers when they quote numbers of prospect agents they send these to and say that this is benefiting the seller.
  • They abuse the entire Internet and waste bandwidth.
  • I LOVE hitting the Gmail "Report as Spam" button.

Whew! OK, I'm calm now.
