Four Minutes - What Took Google So Long?
I finished the post and podcast, and then I hit the publish button at 9:22 AM local Mountain Time. I was pleased with the information and this first podcast recording. I was playing it back to make fun of my Texas accent again, when a "Google Alert" came in on my Gmail. At 9:26 AM, Google let me know that there was a new item on the web that met my alert search phrase of "taos real estate."
I've been talking about using a blog as a primary real estate website for a while. My site is on a WordPress blog platform. Four minutes after I published the post, Google had indexed it and sent out an alert on the key phrase. To be certain that this meant it was indexed, I searched on the title and it was there at number one position in the Google search listings. Keep in mind that I moved all my domain names to point to this new site on the date of the first post, just 65 days ago on December 23, 2007. Though I do not have a PageRank yet, I'm hoping that it won't be too long.

Fast spydering is a real testimonial to Google’s internet power. This is quite critical for any profession (say, Wall St) that trades on real time data. I share the same experiences at my blog…
Of course, today the speed of spydering is better than a few years ago!
Hey great post! I am working on our broker’s blog and I still haven’t gotten any traction. Any tips on how to get indexed (other than sitemaps and submitting) ?
Andrew:
I just write a LOT of posts with local and real estate information. Posts about negotiations, pricing, government, business, schools, etc. The only other thing I do is use Google Analytics on the site.
I think it’s just a lot of well-written content with a little SEO. I use WordPress and the All-In-One SEO plugin. Thanks for the comment.
