Tech Notes - Free Audio File Software

Thursday January 24, 2008
One tool that I use a lot is audio software to work with music and voice files to place in movies. In a post the other day, I talked about using Windows Movie Maker and YouTube to promote your listings and your web site. My audio file tool is a free one, called WavePad. It is part of a suite of software, some of it requiring payment to function with full features.

However, I've found that the free version of WavePad is working well for my purposes. It allows me to convert file formats, such as from .wav to .mpeg and others. A voice file created in WavePad with my headset will drop right into a virtual tour for a voice tour of the property. If you upgrade to a paid version of their MixPad software, you can mix multiple voice and audio files as well.
