Countrywide's Foreclosures Small Potatoes in Cleveland

Thursday January 17, 2008
Countrywide has a large presence via their marketing. And, there has been plenty of press about their foreclosures and possible financial problems. Perhaps Bank of America did more due diligence than we thought. Of course, areas differ, but the numbers in this article are interesting.

In the city of Cleveland's suit against various mortgage lenders, the numbers for Cuyahoga County show that Countrywide's foreclosures were less than 10% of the total 13,600 in the past four years. Deutche Bank and Wells Fargo, on the other hand, accounted for about 64%, or 8750 foreclosures. Bank of America looks pretty good on this list, at under 3%.
