Just Get Drunk & Smoke a Stogie

Times are slow in real estate, agents are leaving the business, and many of us are experiencing income challenges. A little humor can't hurt, maybe. It seems that Ron White of Blue Collar Comedy fame is starring in a new TV series.

I like some of Ron's comedy, and have been a fan of the blue collar styles. I'm just not sure about his new series, where he plays "Spain Dixon Dollarhide, a rich guy from Texas who likes to play golf, drink whiskey and smoke cigars." This rich Texas family is said to be in the real estate business.

There's no need to go over the numbers for average income of real estate agents again here, but very few are in the "rich" category. Maybe I've become over-sensitive, but it seems that TV and movies use the Realtor® in roles that are not only unflattering, but defamatory in nature. In a recent TV crime show episode, the Realtor® was the murderer in order to get a juicy listing. At least they didn't have him kill a competing broker.

I'm sure it will be a very funny show for most viewers, and I'll be sure to catch one of the first episodes. Since I have asthma, I'll probably skip the cigar and just have a stiff drink afterwards.
