Fed to the Rescue? - Discount Rate is a Start

Monday August 20, 2007
Real estate is really a local business, with some areas of the country still doing relatively well. But many more are stuck in the national trend of lower prices and significantly reduced transaction volume.

What does the Federal Reserve discount rate cut mean for the economy and real estate? Alone, it's not anything to get excited about, but if cuts in the Fed Funds Rate are on the way, it could be a welcome boost to real estate activity.

Many watched the first signs of the current slow-down in the California markets. Could those same markets be on the verge of showing signs of life? Pat Kitano at Transparent RE thinks it's a possibility. I particularly like the part about the buyers "entering in droves."
