"You Hate Me, Don't You" - More on Redfin & 60 Minutes

Thursday May 17, 2007
In trying to comment more on the 60 Minutes TV show, NAR and Redfin, it just couldn't be done in a blog post or two....or even a dozen I think. It's a complex topic that shouldn't be treated with sound bites and polarized viewpoints.

So, I've placed an article on the subject here on the site. In it you'll find a really interesting story from a listing agent who received the "You Hate Me, Don't You" comment from a Redfin buyer. Give it a read and feel free to comment on it here, as there are a couple of controversial suggestions in it.

It’s a good summary Jim. I agree that it’s far too complex for a 13 minute segment.

One point you may have missed is that Redfin charges $3000 to list a house upfront. That $3000 is payable even if the house doesn’t sell, plus they want a minimum 2.5% co-broke offered.

Just seems like a more expensive version of FSBO.com basically.

One wonders how things play out when a Redfin Buyer meets a Redfin Seller…

You’re right on target with the Redfin buyer meeting seller. There are probably a lot more ways someone can take half the puzzle and make it look better, but it all still needs to fit together for a full working picture.
